Disability Voting Rights Week 2026: Get Involved!

Disability Voting Rights Week is about a simple idea: disabled Virginians should have a voice in our democracy.

This year, Virginia issued a statewide proclamation recognizing Disability Voting Rights Week (DRVW), alongside proclamations from local governments across the Commonwealth. Seven communities are also holding public proclamation ceremonies. Learn more about official recognition of DRVW across Virginia.

Recognition is only part of it. Organizations across Virginia are holding voter registration drives, webinars, community events, and other programs to help disabled Virginians participate in our democracy and increase the collective influence of their political power.

This year, Disability Voting Rights Week is September 14–18, 2026, but REV UP Virginia’s celebration starts early and continues through early October. See below for a full list of our events.

Disability Voting Rights Week 2026 – Events across Virginia

REV UP Virginia organized eight public events across Virginia at colleges and organizations supporting voter registration and education.

  • September 2, 11:00 AM — Tidewater Community College (TCC) Disability Voting Rights Awareness Event, Joint-Use Library, TCC Virginia Beach Campus
  • September 14, 7:00 PM — League of Women Voters of Virginia – “Diversity Includes Disability: Empowering Every Voter, Every Voice,” virtual webinar (register here)
  • September 15, 11:00 AM–2:00 PM — National Voter Registration Day / Disability Voting Rights Week, Johnson Center (JC) East Plaza, George Mason University, Fairfax
  • September 15 — Hampton Roads Disabilities Board (HRDB) Webinar, virtual (contact Hampton Roads Disabilities Board for access and details)

REV UP Virginia is part of the national REV UP Campaign coordinated by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). REV UP coalitions in other states are also hosting Disability Voting Rights Week events this fall.
