Disability Voting Rights Week 2026: Official Recognition in Virginia

Disability Voting Rights Week is about a simple idea: disabled Virginians should have a voice in our democracy. This year, Disability Voting Rights Week is September 14–18, 2026.

REV UP Virginia has secured official recognition of Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW). Virginia issued a statewide proclamation recognizing DRVW, alongside proclamations from local governments across the Commonwealth. Seven communities are also holding public proclamation ceremonies.

Recognition is only part of it. Organizations across Virginia are holding voter registration drives, webinars, community events, and other programs to help disabled Virginians participate in our democracy and increase the collective influence of their political power. REV UP Virginia is part of the national REV UP Campaign coordinated by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). REV UP coalitions in other states are also celebrating Disability Voting Rights Week this fall.
